Despite the slower recovery in the United States and the impact of the strength of the Swiss franc, Nestlé remains relatively optimistic about the second half. On the occasion of the presentation of its sales figures for nine months in New York - a first for the multinational based in Switzerland - the CEO of the group, Paul Bulcke, has not hidden his ambition to consolidate its leading position in the United States in nutrition-health, food (where Gerber gave him a boost) and food for animals (nine years after the acquisition of Purina). At the outbreak of foodstuffs and after McDonald and the Dutch group CSM, Nestlé has passed on to consumers a part of the increase in the prices of cereals, cocoa, coffee and milk. He estimated that 1.6 point the percentage of growth linked to the rise in the price in the progression of 4.1 of its sales in the first nine months, to 82.8 billion CHF ($85.4 billion).
"The dynamics of growth in the first half continued unabated in the third quarter, providing a good basis for the whole of the year, even if we are facing difficult comparisons in the fourth quarter", Paul Bulcke launched. Swiss food giant has recorded an increase of sales stronger than expected with a demand in emerging countries and the good performance of its coffee in capsules, Nespresso ( 20) subsidiary. Emerging markets ( 11), which represent 30 of the turnover of Nestlé, fired the organic growth of its sales, before the Asia-Oceania and Africa ( 9.2) and America ( 5.7) area. But it is more dynamic than Europe ( 2). The strength of the Swiss franc against other currencies, and particularly the euro, cost him 2.7 points of growth, however said the group.
"Status quo" with l ' Oréal

"We see a recovery slower than expected in the United States." "But it can provide opportunities for growth in terms of share of market and value creation," assured Paul Bulcke. He particularly noted the good performance of the division Nestlé Waters (Perrier, San Pellegrino, Pure Life...), which displays an organic growth of 4.3 in a global market of water bottled with renewed growth. Although he is cautious in terms of recruitment across the Atlantic, group believes in "the potential of growth of the sector of frozen products", where he made already almost 8 billion dollars in revenues.
On the other hand, Paul Bulcke would not comment on the rumours of a possible withdrawal of the daughter and son-in-law of Liliane Bettencourt of the Council of Nestlé in reaffirming "its commitment to the status quo in its partnership with l ' Oréal. For the whole of the year, the Group confirms its forecasts for its activities which are now the core of its activities after the sale to Novartis of its 52 in the world leader in ophthalmic products, Alcon, in August - food and beverages-, with organic approximately 5 and a growth increase its gross margin (Ebit) at constant exchange rates.
Since the beginning of the year, the action of the Swiss group has however remained rather indented relative to its peers, with an increase limited to 6, against an increase of more than 12 for the index of the sector.
