The question is just to know where to focus

Werner Hoyer, appointed Secretary of State in the Affairs European in the cabinet Merkel II after having already occupied this position from 1994 to 1998 under Helmut Kohl, warned against a possible loss of confidence in the single currency but reiterated a few days of the Council of Ministers Franco of the beginning of February that he is opposed to the concept of a European economic government. Expert moné owners, this liberal also advised China to abandon its policy of accumulation of foreign exchange reserves. A possible nomination of Axel Weber, President of the Bundesbank, to the estate of Jean-Claude Trichet as head of the ECB seems very appropriate.

What do you think of the Spanish proposal to create a European economic government with potential sanctions for Member States which would not be enough for growth

I tried to understand, in talking with my Spanish friends, what they really meant. I noticed that is was more "sanctions", referring to not to sow disorder. The use of the concept of economic government may be easily misunderstood, in Germany at least. But person in Berlin does not doubt that we need better coordination of economic policies. The question is just to know where to focus. What are our priorities In my view, we must focus on the topics listed by the European Council in 2006 and where it has not sufficiently acted: investment in training, research and development. I would also say strengthening of entrepreneurship, employability and the climate and energy complex. But all of this can work only if we manage to clean up our public finances.

Are you disappointed by the Greece

I won't you if I told you otherwise. I am an old hellénophile and I have many contacts in Greece. The situation has become really worrisome and I hope that my old friend Georges Papandreou will succeed in the tide.

Do you think that other countries should include in their constitutions a mechanism of debt, such as the Germany brake last year

I gave no recommendations to other countries. But we have an obligation to require our partners a policy of stabilization in the long term, because we operate in a space monetary common, with a single monetary policy, decided by an independent Central Bank, we want to keep.

As you discuss the monetary issues, the German economy suffers it the undervaluation of the yuan, and Europeans can they address

The evolution of the courses of the yuan cause me of great concern and I hope that with our American partners and Chinese we can soon find a rational approach. The Chinese are sitting on reserves of property more than 1,000 billion euros. The logic behind this accumulation is not me, it is a strategy of yesterday. Us, German, have long made the same mistake. This ongoing research of surpluses led to such accumulations of currency. However, when these reservations finally undergo a devaluation, it was a very bad case. The Chinese would be well advised not to hang on to this way of thinking.

Always at the monetary section, is it a good thing to see Axel Weber, President of the Bundesbank, replacing Jean-Claude Trichet as head of the ECB in 2011

This is the German Government to decide if it wants to submit a nomination. But, in a zone euro in the situation where it is today, the Germany would be undoubtedly in a position to propose a Chairman of excellence to succeed Jean-Claude Trichet. It would be not justified that the successor to Mr Duisenberg and Trichet a member of the Board of Governors of the ECB also experienced and successful than Mr. Weber.
