11 Days After 2012 Murders, Hernandez Said Summer Was ‘Private, But I Still Had Some Fun’
" BOSTON (CBS) — Aaron Hernandez was indicted on Thursday for a double murder in Boston in 2012.

Police believe Hernandez, who has also been charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd in June 2013, shot and killed Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado in the early hours of July 16, 2012.

About six weeks later, in August 2012, Hernandez signed an extension with the Patriots. The contract was for five years, with a maximum value of $40 million.

The deal was signed near the end of training camp, but a comment from Hernandez at the very start of training camp stands out today.

In audio available on the Patriots’ official website, which was unearthed Thursday by Boston ’s Eric Wilbur on Twitter, Hernandez was asked if his summer was as crazy as his teammate and fellow tight end, Rob Gronkowski.

“More private,” Hernandez said with a laugh. “But with that said, I still had some fun.”

The comments were made on July 27, 2012 — just 11 days after Hernandez was allegedly involved in the┬áSouth End┬ádouble murder.

Hernandez was then asked for some specifics about his “fun.”

“That’s still private, but next question,” a chuckling Hernandez said "
