Vince Wilfork is due to cost $11.5 million against the salary cap in 2014. The 32-year-old is coming off a serious Achilles injury, and given his age, size and the De-emphasis of the importance of his position in the NFL, the Patriots likely can’t afford to dedicate those kinds of resources to him.

Jones suggested the two sides agree to restructure, giving Wilfork something like $5.5 million in each of the next two seasons.
