The difference between the six-foot-six, 260 pound Thomas and the others, however, is that he played some tight end for Virginia Tech. During the combine, many of his numbers were better than some of the top tight end prospects, posting a 4.61 40-yard time, a 35.5 vertical jump and a 7.05 three cone drill time. If those numbers are compared to the other tight ends, Thomas was in the top three in many of the categories.
Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak talked about Thomas on Thursday and both are intrigued about what he could bring to the team if drafted by the Patriots.
According to Gresh, Thomas was the number one tight end coming out of high school and was converted to quarterback by Virginia Tech after his redshirt year. With his positional flexibility, youth and raw athletic skills, he could be an interesting fit with the team "
