" BOSTON (CBS) – Touted as one of the best tight ends in the NFL, Rob Gronkowski may be set to get a raise from the New England Patriots.

Multiple reports have the Patriots and Gronkowski agreeing to, or close to agreeing to, a deal or extension that would replace the final two years of the 23-year-old’s rookie deal.

CBSSports ’s Jason La Canfora is reporing the deal could be announced as soon as Friday, saying the contract “is very close to completion and the extension would stretch beyond his current deal.”

This is certainly out of the ordinary for the Patriots, but Gronkowski is no ordinary player. A second-round pick in 2010, Gronkowski has 132 receptions, 1,873 yards and 27 touchdowns in his two NFL seasons "
