" BOSTON (CBS) – Darrelle Revis is considered by many to be the best cornerback in the league (yes, even better than you Richard Sherman), and he’s also the most highly paid corner as well – by far.

Revis gets paid nearly $6 million more annually than the next highest player, and his $16 million cap charge, plus a new regime and scheme in Tampa Bay, could signal the end of his Bucs tenure.

Enter Mike Florio.

The ProFootballTalk writer published over the weekend that the Patriots and Broncos are trying to “shake Revis free” from Tampa Bay and a deal would have to be done soon because the Bucs owe Revis $1.5 million on March 13.

Not only that, but if Revis is on their roster come the 13th they’ll owe the New York Jets a third round pick instead of a fourth round pick based on the draft pick compensation agreed upon in that trade.

The Patriots did not place the franchise tag on Aqib Talib, and Alfonzo Dennard is currently serving a 60-day jail sentence – so at the moment there appears to be a great need at cornerback "
