Mike Giardi On The Adam Jones Show: Ed Reed Can’t Run Anymore
" BOSTON (CBS) – Patriots insider Mike Giardi of Comcast SportsNet New England joined The Adam Jones Show Tuesday night to talk all things Patriots, including a Monday Night Football analysis of their matchup against the Carolina Panthers and whether or not they have any interest in safety Ed Reed following his release by the Houston Texans.

But first, let’s start with Reed.

Sidelined by a hip injury to start the season, the future Hall of Famer has played in just seven games in 2013, starting five of them. And with injured Patriots safety Steve Gregory slated to miss a few weeks with a broken thumb, will Belichick take a look at Reed?

He would have to clear waivers first.

All 31 teams have a chance to claim him off waivers in the 24 hours following his release. If multiple teams place a waiver claim on Reed, the player is awarded to the team with the worst record. If Reed goes unclaimed, he clears waivers and is a free agent.

“If he [Reed] clears waivers I’m sure there will be a phone call,” said Giardi "
