New England couldn’t get much going on either side of the ball in this one. The offense never got into a groove, and the recently robust run game managed just 64 yards. Tom Brady went 24-for-34 for 277 yards through the air, throwing one touchdown and running another, but it was nowhere near enough against Manning and his offense.
Manning was stellar, throwing for 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He picked apart the Patriots defense as soon as Aqib Talib made his way to the locker room in the first half, and looked like a man determined to get another shot at a championship.
The Patriots were completely outplayed in their biggest game of the year, but it’s hard not to say they overachieved all season given the injuries they suffered throughout. But they won’t use injuries to Wilfork, Mayo, Tommy Kelly and Sebastian Vollmer as an excuse "
