Patriots’ Contract With Revis A 2-Year Deal For Salary Cap Purposes
" BOSTON (CBS) — The New England Patriots have not yet announced their deal with cornerback Darrelle Revis, but more is coming out about the reported contract.

While it was widely reported that Revis’ contract with the Patriots was a one-year deal for $12 million, it’s actually a two-year deal that will help lighten the Patriots’ salary cap hit for 2014.

Revis will still earn $12 million for the 2014 season, but with the second year added to the deal New England’s cap hit will only be $7 million. But the second year, which is a team option that has to be picked up before the end of the 2014 league year, will now pay Revis $20 million for 2015 and come with a cap hit of $25 million "
