“This is a team that’s well coached, that’s had a real good season,” Belichick said in a conference call with reporters Sunday. “They beat some of the best teams in the league – in both the AFC and the NFC. They’ve just been impressive. We’ve gotten a little work done on them but we obviously have a lot more to do.”
The matchup was determined when third-seeded Cincinnati lost to San Diego 27-10 on Sunday, one day after fourth-seeded Indianapolis (12-5) beat Kansas City 45-44 as Luck threw four touchdown passes and the Colts rallied from a 28-point deficit.
Second-seeded New England (12-4) had a first-round bye for the fourth straight season.
