" BOSTON (CBS) — It didn’t take long for the Patriots to go to their backup plan in the wake of Aaron Hernandez’s injury.

The Patriots have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. Denise White of EAG Sports Management tweeted confirmation of the signing on Tuesday morning. ESPN ’s James Walker first reported the news.

Winslow, 29, was released by the Seahawks during training camp, and he visited with the Patriots for a workout in the preseason "
