" BOSTON (CBS/AP) — The brother-in-law of U.S. Rep John Tierney has blasted the congressman after being sentenced to three years in federal prison for his role in an illegal offshore gambling business.

Daniel Eremian told the Boston Herald that the congressman is the “biggest liar in the world” and “knew everything.” Eremian also claims that Tierney, “sat with bookies at Fenway Park.”

Tierney’s wife, Patrice Tierney, served a 30-day prison sentence after pleading guilty to aiding and abetting the filing of false tax returns for another brother, Robert Eremian, a fugitive who has been indicted on illegal gambling and money laundering charges for running Sports Off Shore in Antigua.

Patrice Tierney testified that she and her husband did not know that Robert Eremian was running an illegal gambling operation.

Daniel lashed out after he was sentenced saying that for John Tierney, “To throw my sister under the bus for his career was wrong.”

Eremian must also forfeit $7.7 million to the federal government.
