Gillette announced on Thursday morning that “beard balls” that were collected during the public beard shaving of David Ortiz and Shane Victorino are up for auction on eBay. That means bundles of discarded facial hair from baseball players could be yours, if you are the highest bidder.
Gillette said 100 percent of proceeds will go directly to Movember, a global men’s health chairty which encourages men to grow mustaches in the month of November in order to raise funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
So that’s the good part. The weird part? Everything else about it.
“Up for auction is this one-of-a-kind, 100 percent authentic, David Ortiz 2013 Championship Beard Ball,” the eBay auction reads. “Not only is this real championship beard hair, it is real championship MVP beard hair "
