Pedroia will be out for the next couple of weeks with an injury to his right thumb, though he says it’s completely different from the injury he suffered earlier this season.
“This is just a freak thing. I dove back for a ball and just kind of landed wrong,” he said Friday in the Red Sox’ clubhouse. “Just kind of a freak accident.”
