" BOSTON (CBS) – After defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in six games to win the World Series, the Boston Red Sox bolstered their roster in the offseason by signing Edward Mujica, Burke Badenhop, Jonathan Herrera, Grady Sizemore and a 37-year-old A.J. Pierzynski.

Okay so that’s not really “bolstering” in the truest sense of the word, but each player should provide a valuable role in helping the team compete in the American League East – but compete for another World Series?

That’s a different story.

For a team that overachieved to begin with in 2013, general manager Ben Cherington didn’t exactly improve his ball club’s chances of repeating "
