Red Sox Acquire Infielder John McDonald From Phillies
" BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox acquired infielder John McDonald and cash considerations Saturday from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for minor league pitcher Nefi Ogando, the Sox announced in a prepared statement.

A 15-year major league veteran, McDonald, 38, has appeared in 45 games this season between the Pittsburgh Pirates (16), Cleveland Indians (8), and Philadelphia Phillies (21). Between the three clubs, he combined to hit .098 (6-for-61) with one double, one home run, and four RBI.

The native of New London, Conn., and current Scituate resident has appeared primarily as a shortstop in his career, with 575 games at the position. McDonald has posted a career .972 fielding percentage at shortstop "
