" MEDFORD (CBS) – They waited for hours in line, clutching t-shirts, baseballs and ball caps. Hundreds of Red Sox fans turned out to meet catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia at Modell’s in Medford.
So many excited fans showed up, some had to be sent away because of time.
Janet Black of Charlestown wore a hat signed by Sox players in 2004. She was hoping Salty’s signature would add to her collection.
Salty arrived with his daughter and was greeted with chants of “Let’s Go Red Sox.”

He says he’s savoring every moment of his first World Series and appreciating all the fan support. “I’ve said, ever since I’ve gotten to Boston, I’ve never seen fans like here. Just really passionate people.”
The crowd included 100-year-old Geraldine Gello. She brought her birthday letter from the Sox. The games keep her up late, but she never misses one "
