" BOSTON (CBS) — Major League Baseball has suspended Red Sox starter Brandon Workman for six games for throwing at Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria.

A pitch from Workman sailed behind Longoria in the top of the sixth inning of Friday night’s 3-2 win by the Red Sox, resulting in Workman’s ejection.

Rays starter David Price plunked Sox DH David Ortiz in the first inning, on the first pitch of the at-bat, prompting home plate umpire Dan Bellino to warn both the Boston and Tampa benches. Price later hit Red Sox first baseman Mike Carp in the fourth inning, but was not ejected "
